Harry, thanks for the link, and for checking out the blog. The distance thing really is a big issue. We’ve factored in some rest days, and having some 4WDs with us (with drivers who can also ride) we have the opportunity to take time off from riding. I look forward to reading the rest of the trip report – get it finished!

Sascha, Tassie is a great place to ride. We rode down through the middle and up the west coast. Beautiful country. I have a trip report somewhere… must put it back on the web one day. And yes… we must go riding soon.

I just had a short look through your plans and sounds great but I dont have really any big idea of Australia yet. I will start this year with a week for trip around Tasmania and maybe another trip throught the Victoria High Country. We still have to catch up for a ride… Will be in touch… Cheers

Hey Tim,
Sounds like a sweet trip! We did a similar one last year at the end of Sept – and I created a half effort blog to let everybody know, not quite as in depth as yours. (In fact, it’s still WIP) Couple of big days in there! Make sure you give yourself enough time to stop and take some photos and enjoy the sights – it ends up not being a lot of fun it you’re forced to slog out the KM’s for the whole trip…

Sascha, I’d love to take a ride with you some time. Where abouts in Melbourne are you based? Me and the guys I would usually ride with are all in the outer eastern suburbs. Perhaps we can find a place somewhere between us and you to take a ride?

Hi, I moved to Melbourne from Germany a year ago and got myself the black KLR650 ‘09 model in November and I am doing very similar modifications like you guys. I love the adventure ride and the dirt and took the heavy KLR already into very rough terrain but it�s so much fun. If you guys are up for a ride, let me know, would love to catch up and exchange some experience. Cheers
